Burns My Craw

Well, the holidays are over, it's almost time for the Super Bowl, albeit THE symbol for corporate greed and extravagance, but what sticks in my mind is the Torture the United States continues to commit, God knows where. These actions, among oh so many others, continues to make the world, especially the part that is Islamic, see the United States as the facsist state, that I have abhored all my life, and makes my heart ache. The United States people had better wake up to the fact that it's leaders are increasingly and agressively fostering a kind of "colonialism" that will not solve the needs of people in the middle east or elsewhere. 2006 may be the year when a war we started will cause such hostility and hate, that it will be decades before this mess can be undone... Latin and South America show more anti-American sentiment since the days of Nixon, and hardliners on all extremes seem to be bracing for some brash actions in the not so distant future. Africa is as unstable area, where genocide, starvation and disease run rampant. Global warming, another offshoot of greed, is destroying our environment. Education in America is a failure except for the wealthy. All these warning signs, and there are so many others too numerous to mention here, is creating an environment for worldwide disaster.

The Terrible Tackle

Just like the "Immaculate Reception" where Franco Harris miracuously scooped up the famous pass deflection in the 70's, so too did Ben Roethlisberger accomplish a miraculous task with his game saving tackle against the Colts. If the Steelers go on to win the "One For The Thumb" in 2006, Ben Roethlisberger will become a part of Steeler lore and for a quarterback to have literally "saved" the 5th Super Bowl, well "god bless" this gifted 23 year old....Pat Robertson will consider his "Hail Marys" one way or another. I'm sure, but this Sunday we witnessed football the way it should be enjoyed. What a game!!!
